iLearnabout recognised in Biodiversity Review
The iAfrica Foundation is honoured to be mentioned in Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta’s Review on the Economics of Biodiversity. The independent review was commissioned by the UK Government and sets out 'the ways in which we should account for nature in economics and decision making’. The review was launched this week at the Royal Society in London, with distinguished speakers including HRH Prince Charles, UK PM Boris Johnson, and Sir David Attenborough.
Highlighting the importance of education, Dasgupta, a world-renowned authority, states that there is a lack of conservation education across the globe and cites the iAfrica Foundation's iLearnabout project as working to change this.
Prince Charles backed the review saying. "Sir Partha Dasgupta's seminal review is a call to action that we must heed.. it falls on our watch and we must not fail."
Sir David Attenborough said of the review "It is the compass that we urgently need".
Referring to iLearnabout Sir Dasgupta said "Your initiative is just the kind I have been hoping will be taken."
We are proud to be recognised for the development of our holistic and digital environmental education resource as a change-maker, and our aim of creating a generation of sustainable and environmentally aware ambassadors in Sub-Saharan Africa will surely pave the way for environmental improvements, alleviating poverty and improving conservation efforts across the continent.
